Biography:
Christopher G Palandra, a retired Yonkers Police Officer, died suddenly on December 16,2016. He was 77 years old. Born in Plymouth Pa, to the late Gabriel and Sophie Yostrum. Beloved husband of Barbara Mastroddi Palandra. Loving father of retired Yonkers Police Officer Christopher R.(Lisa) Palandra. Adored Grandpa to Kayla Krista and Christopher Ryan Palandra who were the love of his life.Dear brother of Charlotte Forrester and Patricia Barrios. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Christopher graduated from Yonkers High School where he was a three sport athlete chosen as a member of the Athlon society. Upon graduation Mr. Palandra served his country in the U.S navy where he was assigned to the destroyer USS Purdy serving in the Mediterranean and middle east He began his career as a Police Officer in 1970. During the course of his 26 years he served in the 4th precinct as well as the Youth Services Division as a community relations officer and as a P.A.L officer. He was elected as a P.B.A trustee for seventeen years. During his career career he created numerous community based programs which are still going strong.His dedication to the P.A.L and P.B.A never waivered. Since retiring he continued to volunteer his services. He was a member of the P.AL board of directors. He recieved numerous awards including PBA Man of the year,P.A.L. Officer of the Year, and many proclamations from City, State and Government officials. He will be sorely missed. Arrangements entrusted to FLOWER FUNERAL HOME INC., 714 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers with visitation Wednesday 4-9 pm. Funeral mass Thursday 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Church with cremation to follow at Ferncliff Crematory. In lieu of flowers, Donations preferred to Yonkers P.A.L. www.FlowerFH.com

Dear Barbara and Chris, We are sorry for your sudden loss. Your husband/dad was a quiet, private man, but led quite a life of service to others. Rest in peace...the Morgante Family.
